Every examination follows one standard, which we have been developing and refining for years. We train all our doctors in the same way of working, so that the scope of the examination does not depend on the city or on which doctor you see.
The doctor methodically examines the skin over your whole body and checks every mole with a videodermatoscope, including the scalp, feet, spaces between the toes and other hard-to-reach areas. The examination takes place in your underwear, and the doctor will also ask about any moles covered by it.
The doctor's assessment is supported by a certified AI system running during the examination. In case of doubt the doctor uses our internal second-opinion system and discusses the lesion with another doctor from our nationwide team. The decision is always the doctor's.
Lesions that need monitoring or removal are recorded with a photograph and their exact location — with no limit on how many. This builds a history of your moles that lets the doctor compare them at later follow-ups.
After the examination the doctor goes through the result in detail, answers your questions and explains which lesions need monitoring. You will also learn what to watch for, how to protect your skin and when to have your next examination. You receive the photographic documentation and recommendations electronically.
The recommendations go into our own software, built solely for diagnosing and monitoring skin lesions . We use them to create an individual follow-up plan, and we manage all our patients within it.

A dermatoscope lets the doctor view a lesion magnified, but it does not save the image. A videodermatoscope adds documentation: the image goes into your medical records, so at your next visit the doctor compares it with the current state of your skin. Here, every mole is viewed with the videodermatoscope — not just selected ones.
Because the mole that worries you may not be the one that concerns the doctor. Melanoma can look harmless and may develop somewhere you cannot easily see, such as your back, scalp or between your toes. That is why we examine your whole skin rather than only the mole you point out.
Yes. Images of the lesions marked for monitoring go into your records in our system and are available at your next visits. It means the doctor is not assessing the lesion from scratch, but checking whether it has changed since the previous examination.

No — and that is a deliberate medical decision. We view every mole with the videodermatoscope, but we archive images of the lesions that need follow-up or removal. Mapping every benign lesion is not supported by the guidelines and would make the examination longer at the expense of its medical part.
We reserve 30 minutes for a full examination. If there are a lot of moles, the doctor takes more time so that all of them can be assessed in one visit. A follow-up visit, covering the moles the doctor selected at the previous examination, is shorter — usually 15–20 minutes.
We use the FotoFinder Portable Medicam 1000 Full HD videodermatoscope, which allows moles to be viewed at up to 140× magnification and images of the lesions marked for monitoring to be archived.
Before the examination, remove any make-up and trim the hair in the areas where you have moles — it improves the quality of the dermatoscopic image. You undress to your underwear for the examination, so it is worth wearing something comfortable.

Dermatoscopy is completely non-invasive and has no contraindications. It is suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women and people with chronic conditions.
Once a year as standard. People in higher-risk groups should be examined more often — the doctor sets the date of the next check, and we send a reminder.
Pain is not a characteristic symptom of melanoma, and its absence rules nothing out. Melanoma can develop unnoticed for years — which is why the symptoms you feel should not decide when you get examined.
Five features worth checking yourself. None of them settles anything on its own — whether a lesion needs removing is decided by the doctor, based on the videodermatoscopic image.
Imagine two perpendicular lines through the centre of the mole and compare the opposite halves. Do they match in shape, colour and structure?
Most ordinary moles are symmetrical in structure. Asymmetry can be a feature of dysplastic naevi or of melanoma in its early stages. Any asymmetrical mole should be checked in a dermatoscopic examination.
Videodermatoscopy — computer-assisted mole examination — is currently the best method of preventive screening for dangerous skin cancers. Examining moles with a videodermatoscope is above all about assessing how the moles under observation change, by comparing images taken over time.
The signs of melanoma can be invisible to the naked eye, which is why viewing moles under magnification matters. A specialised camera placed against the skin sends images to a computer screen and provides up to 140× magnification, revealing structures within the mole. An experienced doctor carries out the examination, supported by a certified AI system that provides an additional check without replacing the doctor's judgement.
Dermatoscopy allows the structure of a mole to be assessed in detail, and bringing this method into the routine assessment of skin lesions improves melanoma detection by around 30%. A dermatoscopic examination means viewing every mole on the skin under high magnification, using a device called a dermatoscope.
A standard handheld dermatoscope resembles a magnifying glass with a built-in light source. It typically provides 10–20× magnification, allowing the doctor to examine suspicious moles in detail. The device is placed against the skin and, based on the magnified image and their clinical experience, the doctor decides which lesions may need surgical removal.
Before deciding whether a mole should be removed surgically or can safely be treated with a laser, it must be examined with a dermatoscope.
The doctor uses the examination findings to choose the appropriate method. Atypical moles need to be removed surgically, while non-invasive methods are reserved for benign lesions. Laser treatment, cryotherapy and electrocoagulation do not leave a sample for histopathology, which is the only way to make a definitive diagnosis.
After a melanoma diagnosis, the patient may need further procedures, including a wider excision around the original site and a sentinel lymph node biopsy. An oncology consultation is essential at this stage.
During the consultation, the oncologist explains what should happen after a cancerous lesion has been removed, including the necessary follow-up examinations, possible adjuvant treatment and treatment options for advanced melanoma.
